Ruby Valley Trek
Between Langtang and Manaslu, on a trail almost nobody walks.
About this journey
Ruby Valley runs through the Ganesh Himal foothills in the gap between the Langtang and Manaslu regions. The name comes from the ruby and crystal deposits that have been mined here on a small scale for decades. It crosses the Pangsang Pass at 3,842 m with Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Manaslu all visible, and passes through Tamang and Gurung villages where a trekker is still an event rather than a customer.
Highlights
- Pangsang Pass at 3,842 m, three ranges in one view
- Ganesh Himal close enough to fill the skyline
- Tamang and Gurung villages off the tourist circuit
- Chalish Gaun and its ruby and crystal workings
- Hot springs at Jharlang on the way out
