Chitwan Jungle Safari
Rhino country in the subtropical lowlands.
About this journey
Chitwan was Nepal's first national park, gazetted in 1973 and UNESCO-listed in 1984, protecting around 950 square kilometres of sal forest, grassland and river floodplain. It holds one of the world's larger populations of greater one-horned rhinoceros, along with Bengal tigers, gharial crocodiles, sloth bears and more than five hundred bird species. Sauraha on the Rapti river is where almost everyone stays.
