Pikey Peak Trek
The Everest view Tenzing Norgay called his favourite.
About this journey
Pikey Peak is a 4,065 m ridge in lower Solukhumbu, and from the top you can see eight of the world's highest peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. Tenzing Norgay is widely quoted as saying it was the finest Everest view in Nepal. It needs no flight to Lukla, stays low enough that altitude sickness is unlikely, and passes through Sherpa villages and monasteries that see a fraction of the Khumbu's traffic.
Highlights
- Sunrise from Pikey Peak over Everest, Lhotse and Makalu
- Thupten Chholing monastery near Junbesi
- Sherpa villages on the old Everest approach trail
