Pokhara Tour

The lake city we work out of, properly seen.

About this journey

Pokhara sits at about 820 m on Phewa Lake with the Annapurnas rising to nearly 8,000 m within thirty kilometres — that compression is why the mountains look the way they do from here. A half day covers Sarangkot for sunrise and the World Peace Pagoda after breakfast. A full day adds Davis Falls, Gupteshwor cave and the International Mountain Museum. Two more days let you row out to Tal Barahi and get out to Begnas, which is where the city goes to be quiet.

Highlights

  • Sarangkot sunrise over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre
  • Rowing to Tal Barahi temple on Phewa Lake
  • The World Peace Pagoda walk
  • Davis Falls and the Gupteshwor cave
  • Begnas and Rupa lakes, away from Lakeside

Permits

  • None — all sites are ticketed individually on arrival

We process these for you. Bring your passport and passport photographs.

Getting there

  • Everything is within 30 minutes of Lakeside by vehicle
  • Sarangkot needs a 5 a.m. start; the road is narrow and busy at dawn
